Feb 24, 2021
Dear LHUSD Families,
We communicated back in December that we would look to fully reopen our middle and high school as soon as possible. We will be fully reopening beginning March 22nd for the 4th quarter.
We have been evaluating the new CDC guidance and our most recent health benchmarks from the AZ Department of Health. As of February 18th, Mohave County has begun to significantly decline in all three benchmark areas.
The school district posed direct questions to the Mohave County Health Department on Aug 17, 2020. View their responses and the latest County Public Health Data for Schools.
Benchmark Data - as of Mar 01, 2021
Elementary schools CURRENTLY OPEN to full attendance.
Our in-person learning students will return to a full schedule including specials classes, lunch, and recess. We will continue to focus on the mitigation strategies that reduce the transmission of COVID19 such as handwashing, extra sanitizing, and social distancing to the greatest extent possible.
Students and staff will continue to be required to wear a face-covering until the Arizona Health Department removes this requirement (please see Executive Order 2020-51).
Secondary schools CURRENTLY OPEN in a hybrid model.
Hybrid learning is an opportunity for your student to attend all classes in person two days per week. Students will receive academic instruction from their teachers for two consecutive days.
The other three at-home days will have assigned independent practice, reading, and/or writing accessible in Google Classroom and sent home in paper form.
The 2nd semester hybrid model was devised to help keep your student in contact with their teachers, face-to-face, on a more consistent basis.
Students will have the option to attend the hybrid model or utilize the Online Academy (SchoolsPLP) platform.
Students will be divided into two different groups according to their last name.
Group A: last names lettered A-K, Group B: last names lettered L-Z
To better assist families with multiple siblings in the same household with a different last name, they will follow the oldest sibling's Group assignment.
Information regarding Group schedules and the Online Academy (SchoolsPLP) program was sent to LHHS parents/guardians by Dr. Stone, Superintendent and the High School.
